First day of the cleanse! - Monday and Tuesday

Hi!

My boyfriend and I planned to do this cleanse this time (last year....!) but due to work and all that goes with life we weren't sure if we could/wanted to (a mix of both!) at that time.

Well its a good time to start and we are both starting it today, May 14, 2013.

My boyfriend is a type 1 (insulin dependant, child onset) diabetic and I read up on the herbs before to see if it would affect him. I noticed there wasn't much information relating to diabetics and doing the Wild Rose Cleanse so hopefully my posts will help someone in need! I understand on the directions it reads to not undertake this cleanse if you are pregnant, on high blood pressure pills, or a diabetic, but after some reading I found this is more related to type 2 (insulin resistant, adult onset) as type 2s will often have insulin lowering pills which can be harder to monitor. SO in other words, use this cleanse with caution, as you should regardless of your health, if you have any of the aforementioned. I found a bunch of information on the herbs and their uses/side effects online. The accuracy of which is questionable, but I will post it later as well.

Also, I was afraid to start a cleanse while working. My preconceived idea (after trying the master cleanse for 3 days once and quitting, maybe I'll write about that later!) was that one had to be entirely inactive while undertaking any kind of detox/cleanse. But after inspection of what could and could not be eaten I decided there would be tons of awesome, filling and healthy meals to be had! We already eat pretty healthy, lots of salad, minimal flour, a weakness is definitely raw apple juice, chocolate, goat cheese and the occasional ice cream but I'll manage...!

On a work note: My boyfriend and I both work for the Ministry of Forests doing Wildland Firefighting which very strenuous, carb-busting work when we are on a fire. Hopefully this also gives someone else some insight onto doing a cleanse while maintaining a very active lifestyle.

I will try to write down how my boyfriend did as well every day. He has to have sugar if he has a low blood sugar so he is allowed to cheat but he is trying his hardest and hardly has to have any insulin when he is working... so he should be ok!

Saturday we sat down and made a meal plan, wrote it all out, and stuck it to the fridge. (A brilliant idea!) I decided it was a great idea to make 2 dinners worth of food every night so that we could use the "leftovers" for lunch the next day. (Another brilliant time saver for working people!)

Sunday I went out and bought all the food we would need for the week.

Monday we were supposed to start the cleanse but my boyfriend was called out on Saturday evening and didn't get home til late Sunday night. So we decided to postpone the start day as he had to head back to the fire early Monday morning. He is scheduled to be working 7-7 every day this week. (And my crew is on call now. ;] )

I prepared a cleanse friendly dinner regardless and sort-of started. Minus the last lonely banana we had in our fruit bowl and no cleanse pills.

And on to the fun stuff!

I'm not doing this for weight loss but I will post my weight on here if I remember to for...scientific purposes?! I am 5'2" 125-130lbs strong muscle physique. My boyfriend is 6'3" 180lbs lean/muscular physique.

Weight: 131 lbs
Energy: A bit tired today but nothing out of the normal range.
Feeling:
Great so far, sort of gassy and bloated? I think from chickpeas and beans... and possibly potatoes. I had cut potatoes out of my diet but for the cleanse decided to add them back in so I wouldn't get sick of using quinoa and rice as carbs!
The taste of the tincture wasn't so great, might try it with almond milk next time!
Workout: Always physical things going on at work even at the base, plus a warm-up run and leg workout today.
